Terms of Service
Effective October 1, 2026
These terms cover your use of DeployAngel: the website at deployangel.com, the dashboard at app.deployangel.com, the API at api.deployangel.com, and the deployangel agent, CLI, and MCP server (together, "the service"). DeployAngel is run by Jordan Owens, an individual based in Ohio, USA ("we" and "us").
By creating an account, installing the Heroku add-on, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms. If you use DeployAngel for a company, you agree for that company and confirm you're allowed to.
1. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep passwords and API tokens secret. You're responsible for what's done with your account and its tokens, so revoke a token as soon as you think it has leaked.
- Account owners decide who joins the account, and are responsible for their members' use of it.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
2. What DeployAngel does, and what it doesn't
DeployAngel compares how each release behaves in production with earlier releases, and gives it a verdict: cleared, failed, or not cleared.
- A verdict is an automated assessment, not a guarantee. A cleared release can still have defects, for example in code that didn't run while it was being verified. Each clearance report lists what was and wasn't exercised.
- You stay responsible for your applications and deployments, including whether and when to roll back. DeployAngel never changes your production systems.
- AI investigation is optional and off by default. Its explanations are inference and can be wrong, and they never decide a verdict.
3. Your data
- Your data stays yours: the telemetry your apps send, your release information, and what you enter in the dashboard.
- You let us store and process it to run the service for you, as the Privacy Policy describes.
- The agent is built not to collect personal data about your users, or secrets. Don't configure DeployAngel to send it either.
- When you connect GitHub, Heroku, or Slack, you let us use that connection as described when you set it up. GitHub access is read-only.
4. Acceptable use
Don't:
- break the law, or use DeployAngel to harm others;
- try to reach other accounts' data, or probe or test the service's security without our written permission;
- overload the service, or work around its limits;
- resell the service, or copy it to build a competing product.
We may suspend access that puts the service or other customers at risk. If you find a security problem, please tell us through the contact form.
5. Plans, billing, and changes
- DeployAngel has free and paid plans, listed on the pricing page. Every feature is free while DeployAngel is in beta.
- If you use DeployAngel as a Heroku add-on, Heroku bills you under Heroku's terms, and you change or cancel your plan through Heroku.
- We'll tell you at least 30 days before a price increase affects you.
- Each plan keeps release history for a set time, from 7 to 90 days. Older history is deleted automatically.
- We're actively building DeployAngel, and may add, change, or remove features. If we remove a feature you pay for, we'll tell you first.
6. Availability and the agent
We work to keep DeployAngel running and to fix problems quickly, but we don't promise it will always be available or free of errors. There's no service-level agreement unless we've agreed to one in writing.
The agent is built to fail open: if DeployAngel is unavailable, your application keeps running. The deployangel gem is open source under the MIT License, which covers its code. These terms cover the hosted service it reports to.
7. Ending your use
- You can stop at any time: delete your apps in Settings, remove the Heroku add-on, or ask us to close your account.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, with notice when we reasonably can.
- When you delete an app, we delete its data. When you remove the Heroku add-on, we delete its data 7 days later, in case you add it back.
8. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, including losses from a release that DeployAngel cleared;
- our total liability for all claims about the service is limited to the greater of what you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100.
10. Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because of how you used the service in breach of these terms, or because of data you sent to it, you'll cover our reasonable costs of dealing with that claim.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes, we'll tell account owners by email or in the dashboard at least 30 days before they apply. If you keep using DeployAngel after that, you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Ohio, unless the law where you live lets you bring them elsewhere.
